From Southern Charm to Seussical Whimsy: Two New Broadway Add-On Shows

The RiverPark Center is excited to announce two special Broadway add-on performances for the 2025-2026 season — Steel Magnolias and The Cat in the Hat — two beloved stories brought to life on stage in unforgettable fashion. These productions join an already dynamic Broadway lineup of upcoming shows – Hadestown on Friday, October 17 and Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol on Saturday, November 15!

First up, Steel Magnolias invites audiences into the lively world of six unforgettable Southern women who share more than just hairstyles and gossip. This heartfelt comedy-drama explores the deep bonds of friendship, resilience, and love as these women navigate life’s joys and sorrows together. Filled with sharp humor, touching moments, and candid conversations, the story unfolds through the lens of their regular salon gatherings, where laughter and tears go hand in hand. Alternately hilarious and deeply moving, Steel Magnolias is a powerful tribute to the strength, grace, and enduring spirit of women supporting one another through life’s most challenging, and beautiful, seasons. So be ready to be welcomed to Truvy’s Beauty Salon with Bold Hair, Bigger Hearts on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 7pm.

Following the heartfelt Southern charm of Steel Magnolias, audiences can enjoy the playful imagination of The Cat in the Hat on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at 7pm.  In 1957, Dr Seuss used only 200 words to write his classic tale. More than 50 years later, The Cat in the Hat is a much-loved children’s phenomenon. The play was adapted for the stage in 2009 by the National Theatre of Britain. The Cat in The Hat interrupts this rainy afternoon with his unexpected visit to Sally and her brother’s cozy home. Their outspoken and outraged pet Fish is astounded and concerned, but this cat will not be deterred. He will teach us all to make our own fun with nothing but a little imagination. “It’s fun to have fun, but you have to know how” Along with Thing One and Thing Two, the cat will fill the theatre with mischievous humor and madcap style.

Tickets for both of these shows will go on sale on Monday, November 3 at Noon at Ticketmaster.com and at the RiverPark Center Box Office. For more information, please visit the RiverPark Center Box Office or call 270-687-2770.  Box office hours currently are Monday – Friday from 10AM to 3PM.
