Direct from its 2007 Off-Broadway world premiere, Anne of Green Gables is a heartwarming story about love, family and home for the entire family.

Farmer Matthew Cuthbert and his wife Marilla are adopting an orphan boy to help out at the farm. No boys await them – only a homely lass with bright red hair and all her worldly possessions in a carpet bag. This bright resourceful girl with an irrepressible sense of optimism has been sent by the orphan asylum to live with the Cuthberts. Her name is Anne Shirley.

Anne is determined to stay with the Cuthberts at Green Gables, the little house they share. Through the years, Anne turns the entire community upside-down with her endless scope for imagination. She forms an instant bond with her new friend Diana, but fosters an immediate dislike of Gilbert Blythe when he teases Anne and her scarlet tresses. The only thing fierier than Anne’s hair is her temper! Anne and Gilbert become heated rivals, from the rigors of the local elementary school through collegiate scholarshop competitions. It is only when Gilbert selflessly changes his plans so that Anne can be near Matthew, Marilla and her beloved home at Green Gables that Anne realizes that he is a kindred spirit. She finally learns to forgive him and the two begin the make up for lost time.
